Research and Conservation

Conservation and marine sustainability are at the heart of everything we do at JARI.

Our aim is to protect marine and coastal environments by providing communities with the tools they require to manage their local area. We do this by harnessing local knowledge, providing education and undertaking research in collaboration with locals. We also focus on facilitating marine conservation leadership within communities through citizen science programs and other conservation activities including mangrove replanting, coral transplantation, and plastic pollution control.

The protection of our unique marine environments cannot be done alone and we are working with all levels of the community including government (local and regional), business, schools, youth groups and locals to ensure that programs are sustainable and can have the greatest impact.

As part of our Volunteering program, we are looking to run regular conservation activities across Lombok that help to raise awareness for marine issues and promote the protection of Indonesia’s marine environments. Please head to our Volunteering page, if you would like to find out more.

Alternatively, if you would like to run a conservation activity in your area, please get in touch via our Contact page.
